Whenever you start your computer, you are faced with a few moments of thumb twiddling while Windows XP Boots and prompts you to log on. No matter how fast or shiny your computers might be when they are new, they all seem to get slower after sometime.
After you install a lot of programs, load it with antispyware and antivirus tools, and download untold amounts of junk from the internet. The slowdown might happen so gradually you hardly notice it, until one day you're trying to open a program or wonder, ''What happened to my poor PC?''
Whatever the cause, there are a lot of ways to help Speed Up Windows and make your PC work better-even without upgrading your hardware. Here are some tips to help you Optimize Windows XP For Faster Performance.
Tips 1: Optimize Windows XP To Run Faster
Though it is a very common problem, now it is easier to restart windows without re-installing or adding any new hardware. During start up, your computer loads quite a few software programs. If you cut short the list of these programs, the boot up time will decrease.
A free utility called Soluto can also help to reduce the start up time of Windows considerably. It is also very easy to use Soluto.
After you install Soluto, it divides your start up programs into 3 categories
1. No brainer- removes programs from start up after asking,
2.Potentially reomovable-it is another list of programs that can be reomved if yu know what these programs do,
3.Required- These are the programs that are reqiured to start up windows and so should not be removed.
You can Either choose pause to completely remove that application or you can use delay so that it runs automatically but not just after start up.
You can download Soluto from mysoluto.com. You can also use a substitute programme of soluto that is Sysinternals Autorun. It automatically remove all unessentials programs from start up, but you need to get a seperate system to get the delay feature which is easier to find in Solute.
Tip 2. Increase The Boot Speed
Just following the underwritten steps-
1.Remove program from the start up that no longer exist,
2.You can then defrag your hard drive because when you start the computer, windows starts up a number of applications automatically and it can slower the process if these applications are fragmented.
Get the Startup Delayer tool from r2Studios for Windows XP.
Tip 3. Improve Boot Up Time Of Windows
If you Windows is taking too much time to start up,you can download the excellent Autoruns 9.0 utility from Microsoft.
Autoruns shows you what programs are configured to run during system bootup or login. You can select the services, executables and registry entries that may be responsible for the long start-up time and uncheck them to disable.
