Fortunately, it includes a application that installs the most commonly used file formats all together which also includes a flash plugin for Firefox.

Instructions:

1.Go to the application menu and open the Ubuntu software center.


2.Click on view and select all software's.


3.In the search box at the top-right type ''restricted extras'' and find the ''Ubuntu restricted extras'' package and click on Install.


4.Enter your password when the window pops up.


5.When the installation is complete close Ubuntu software center. Now you will be able to play Mp3 files in Ubuntu.

To confirm this Go to application menu and then select sound & video and open Rhythmbox. No you can play Mp3 files without any problem.


Note: If Rhythmbox shows that MP3 plugins are not installed then close it and reopen it. You don't have to install anything extra.


As this is an extra step but Rhythmbox plays most common audio and video file formats including flash player on the Internet. All the software comes installed you just have to tell them how to read your files.
